I have a compatible SSD and memory stick to use. I know the new SSD needs formatted. I want to remove my HDD , keep my current SSD. And be able to use my cpu to format the new drive. IF that makes sense
there are 2 drives on my laptop. 118 SSD and 931 HDD i want to reaplce

Thanks for the explanations!
You can do that if your Asus GL503VD has SATA SSD. But you might need to buy a tray separately because the SSD will go into the HDD slot. And if this is the second new SSD, it is an M2 type SSD.
