Why has my Galaxy A11 stopped going to landscape mode when turned?

Now I get a little rectangle that I have to hit and that only works occasionally. Why does this phone become totally useless on about a weekly basis. It is normally very slow but on those occasions it is ridiculous, and the battery runs down in no time.

Hello, thank you for using Howly. I’ll be happy to help you out! May I ask your name?

Nice to meet you, *****!
Do you mean that screen rotation stopped working on your Galaxy A11?

Customer Replay

Yes

  1. Swipe down on the Status bar (at the top) twice to expand the quick settings menu.
  2. Tap 'Auto rotate' or 'Portrait' to toggle it on/off

Swipe down on the Status bar twice please

Customer Replay

Ok i found it

Okay, toggle it on, so it will rotate the screen when you turn the phone

Thanks, what about my second question?

May I please ask you to repeat it?

How long ago did you buy it?

Customer Replay

I don't remember, maybe 4 years ago

It might be battery issue. It gets less effective as time passes. However, could you please go to Settings>'About phone' or similar tab>and check how much space you have in phone's memory?

Customer Replay

This phone is slower than my wife's phone that is at least 6 years older. 1.4gb of 2gb

Do you have only 2 gigabytes of memory?

Customer Replay

Yes

I see SAMSUNG GALAXY A11 use 2 GB or 3 GB RAM. 2 GB actually is limited for multitasking. Usually the slow performance happen because of too much applications running in the background like chatting, social media, games and some other more. They will standby in the background to wait data update and wait some command.

Customer Replay

So what can I do to mitigate the problem?

I'm not sure that you can really do something effective, since it's a technical limitation of the device. Just try to not open many processes all at once

Customer Replay

I always keep to 1 or 2 things at a time.

I understand, *****.

Are there some Apps that I should eliminate?

It will help you to gain some more space in the storage, however mostly storage is affected by social media apps cache.

Customer Replay

What is that, and where would I find it, I don't use Facebook, or anything like it.

If you do not use such social media, then I assume it's just a limitation of this phone model You can try restarting your phone so that temporary files and cache get deleted, yet it won't help in the long term.

Customer Replay

Ok thanks

You can uninstall all not use applications. You can try to find from menu Setting > Apps, and choose not active applications, then choose Uninstall

Customer Replay

I'll give it a try.

Okay. Is there anything else I could do for you?

Customer Replay

Goodbye
