Yes!
Please tell me, have you tried to connect your laptop to the mobile hotspot?

no I haven't had a chance to do that-my phone doesn't have that service-

Customer Replay

Okay, got you.
Please allow me a moment to provide you with further instructions, I would really appreciate it if you would wait for me in the chat. Thank you!

Customer Replay

Working on your problem!
Please try to hit Fn+F2 keys.

nothing happened-I assumed I was not supposed to hit the + sign correct?

Customer Replay

Okay, give me a few more minutes, please.

Please try to follow these steps:

  1. Type Control Panel in the search box on your desktop, and click Control Panel in the result.
  2. Choose View by Small icons or View by Large icons, then click Network and Sharing Center.
  3. Click Change adapter settings on the left.

Tell me if you'll see your Wi-Fi network disabled.

I can't get to the control panel because I can't even log onto the computer without it connected to the internet
But I can see the internet choices-and it is there and says it is connected, but that there is not internet

Customer Replay

Could you clarify? Your laptop is supposed to work without the Internet.

weird huh?
this is my work computer-so they evidently have it set up that way-but IT doesn't know how to fix it

Customer Replay

Thank you for the screenshot!
Just a moment, please.
Can you try to connect it to a different Wi-Fi network?

I will have to leave the house to do that-all of the networks around here are secure so I need to go ask a neighbor -which I can do later-if it happens to work there, is it likely to work when I get back home, or do I need to do something specific if I do get it to connect?

Customer Replay

I think the issue is not with the computer.
Are you able to connect any other device to this Wi-Fi network?

then why are this computer and my phone connected to the wireless with no issues
that computer was connected earlier in the day when it suddenly lost the connection
shortly after the warranty expired. Dell says they will send me the fix for $99

Customer Replay

Do you have an internet connection on your phone at the moment?

Customer Replay

Alright.
Could you please restart the computer?

I have done so several times-this started on the 29th-but will again

Customer Replay

Thank you.

ok it is back up

Customer Replay

Try to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.

suddenly it is working!! so in case this happens again, which of the things I just tried do you think made the difference?
honestly-I have tried restarting this thing at least twice a day since the 29th!

Customer Replay

Great!
If this happens again, perform the same things you tried and contact us.

will do thanks for your help!
