I want to open the files on a thumb drive

i also need help about how to remove the thumb drive

Short summary:

  1. Ensure that the thumb drive is connected to your laptop's USB port.
  2. Press the Windows key (with the Windows logo) and the E key on your laptop keyboard simultaneously. This will open the File Explorer window.
  3. In the File Explorer window, look for the USB drive. It may be labeled as "USB Drive" or have a different name. Click on it to access its contents.
  4. Now you can view the files stored on the thumb drive. Navigate through the folders to find the specific files you want to access.
  5. To remove the thumb drive safely, you have two options:
Option 1: Take it out physically:Gently pull the thumb drive out of the USB port. Ensure that you do not force it or remove it while it's actively being accessed.
Option 2: Eject the thumb drive using the system tray:Locate the upward-pointing arrow at the bottom-right corner of your screen in the system tray.
Click on the arrow to expand the system tray icons.
Look for the thumb drive icon and right-click on it.
From the context menu that appears, select "Disconnect" or "Eject."
Wait for a notification confirming that it's safe to remove the thumb drive.
Once you receive the confirmation, you can safely remove the thumb drive from the USB port.
  6. You have successfully read files from the thumb drive and safely removed it from your laptop.

Please, press Windows key + E key on your laptop at the same time. A file explorer should open. Let me know if it does.

Okay, you can take it out just like you inserted it, or you can click on the little up arrow at the bottom-right of your screen, and find the thumb drive icon. Right-click on it, and select Disconnect. Then take it out.
