I have an Acer 1080 laptop and want to hook it up to my TV with an HDMI cable

I can get my home screen on my TV, but that is all. My laptop shows whatever I open, but the TV only shows the home screen. Is there a function button that allows output to get to the TV.

Did it work for you?

Customer Replay

Make sure “Smaller – 100%” is selected.

Customer Replay

Just two big boxes with a 1 or 2
Now I'm not sure this thing has windows 10, it might be 7

Use the drop-down menu next to Display resolution.

May I ask you to send me a screenshot of what you see?

Customer Replay

To attach your screenshot to our chat, you need to press the paper clip button in the lower right corner of the chat window. Then you have to choose an image and confirm sending.

Customer Replay

I'm not sure which bix box screens you mean.

Customer Replay

Here choose 100%

Customer Replay

Ok, good
Check TV for any changes

If have the laptop hooked to the TV with an HDMI cable and it is still only showing the background of my home page

Customer Replay

I understand this
Do you have any changes on the screen after changing to 100%?

No. do you think it could be a cable

Customer Replay

No, it is unlikely

What about resolution settings

Customer Replay

Please try different options and check if there is any changes on the TV screen

image

I just hit display orientation and it changed the home screen on the TV

Customer Replay

How exactly did it change?

I can go to portrait on flip it in landscape

Customer Replay

Please try different display resolutions in this section

Got it
You can return to the way it was by clicking display orientation again

Customer Replay

Yes, it changes the screen - in fact I can now see the tool bar at the bottom and the time

Can you, for example, open a browser, or do you see icons on the desktop?

Customer Replay

Could it be that bluetooth is turned off?
I don't have icons except in the tool bar, but the laptop screen has them diplayed in the main screen

No, since you connected it via HDMI, Bluetooth has nothing to do with this
Noted
Please press the keyboard Win key + P.
You should see this menu:

Customer Replay

Wow, laptop went blank but now the display screen is on the TV

After pressing Win key + P?
Press Win + P again and without releasing the Win key, press the P key several times
Check the changes on both screens
If you see the menu I sent you above, the "Extend" option should be chosen

Customer Replay

Yes, and now the icons have moved to the right side tool bar.

Ok, I see
Try what I wrote above, please 😊

Customer Replay

OK, I had everything on the laptop on the TV, after pressing extend, TV is back to home screen

And no icons?

Customer Replay

Icons on the bottom again, and the extend selection is on the TV, but not the laptop

Noted
Please choose Duplicate Mode

Customer Replay

The laptop and TV are indentical

And no icons on both screens?

Customer Replay

Just on the right side toolbar and now I can't see the homescreen so I don't know
What if I hit PC screen only?

It will be displayed only on laptop screen
But try to hit it
Was the taskbar moved from the bottom to the right side?

Customer Replay

you are right, and dupicate brought back to the TV
I think it might be working-should I try to open something, like Spotify
or anything on Google/

Yes, sure!
If you need to return the taskbar to the bottom, follow these steps:
1. Click a blank portion of the taskbar.
2. Hold down the primary mouse button, and then drag the mouse pointer to the place on the screen where you want the taskbar. Done, and I'm playing music with the the TV matching the laptop. I think we got this!
That's good to hear!

Customer Replay

Think you for your patience!!!

I'm happy I could help you🤗
