I have a Canon TS6260 printer and it suddenly stopped printing data

It's connected to wi fi and that's working ok

Short summary:

  1. Unplug the printer from the power source and plug it back in after 1 minute.
  2. Check the printer's connection status on the control panel and ensure it is connected to the network.
  3. Delete all the documents in the print queue on the computer.
  4. Check the printer's status or information section on the control panel for any error messages or issues.
  5. Delete the printer from the computer's printer settings.
  6. Add the printer as a new device in the computer's Bluetooth & devices settings.
  7. Change the text color of the document to a color other than black and try printing.
  8. Clean the printer's black print head multiple times.
  9. If the issue persists, consider replacing the black ink cartridge with a genuine Canon cartridge compatible with the printer model.

For the past 6 weeks or so, when I send something to print, a drop down message occurs saying something an abrasive "thing" is enabled and if I want to continue printing then press OK, which Ive been doing.

What do you see when you try to print?

Customer Replay

The printer is silent. It doesn't do anything.

Undesrstood
What troubleshooting have you done so far?

Customer Replay

Sorry, if I could just go back a bit. When I send something to print, the printer goes through the motions as if it's going to print, but then nothing, and the page comes through the printer blank - no data at all.

Do not worry
Thanks for explanations
Can I ask you to unplug the printer from the power source, wait 1 minute and plug it back, please?

Customer Replay

okay, I'll do that.

Thank you

Customer Replay

The printer just told me off for not turning it off correctly. I had just pulled the plug and not turned it off first at the printer.

Have you unplugged the printer from the wall?

Customer Replay

Yes, I've done that and re-connected it. Sorry about my answer before - just a bit of levity.

Do not worry
Please try to print something

Customer Replay

Okay. I've sent this page to print.
Nothing is happening with the printer. It's like the computer and printer are not talking to each other. I've just had a drop down message to say the printer is not responding.

Please try to print the document now

Customer Replay

Just done that and sent it to print. It says it's printing on the computer but just had another drop down saying the printer can't print the Word document.

Can I ask you to try to print, please?

Customer Replay

Sure, doing that now.

Thanks you

Customer Replay

I think I've solved the problem. The Word document I attempted to print was the normal black print. So I changed the print colour to blue and it has printed it out. I noticed on that nozzle check sheet. All the colour bars printed out as they should but the black bits were very intermittent. Do you think the black printer head is defective?

Do you mean you have changed the text color?

Customer Replay

yes

Top answer

Let's try to clean the black print head
Can I ask you to go back to the printer settings and choose the cleaning, please?

Customer Replay

Okay
There's been progress. I've printed the doc out again using black print and it has printed it, which is the progress, but it is not crisp, some of the letters are missing colour.
I'm putting it through another clean.

Understood

Customer Replay

I've cleaned the heads 3 times and it is still printing with some of the bottom half of the letters fading away. So I think there's nothing more to do. What is your opinion?

You can try to replace the black cartridge
Ensure that you are using a genuine Canon ink cartridge compatible with your printer model. Sometimes, a faulty or old cartridge can cause printing issues, and a replacement may resolve the problem.

Customer Replay

I have to say I've been using non-Canon cartridges for a few years because of the cost, and this is the first time this has happened. But I do hear what you say. And I thank you for your patience in helping me today. Take care of yourself and I appreciate your help.

You are welcome!
Have a great one!
