I am having a problem with my HP Deskjet D4260 printer

It has started printing part of the page as 'double' or blurred. This is in black & white printing.

Hello, thank you for using Howly.
What troubleshooting have you done with your HP printer?

Customer Replay

None

Please, try to turn off your printer, disconnect all of the wires from it and then connect it back and turn it on.

Customer Replay

OK I will try doing this
I have turned printer off and disconnected both the cables but the problem is just as bad if not worse. It is printing some of the lines in heavy print and others as normal with 'blurring' on the heavy printed lines

Okay, got it!
Do you have an HP Smart app?

Customer Replay

I don't think so, being elderly I am not too good at I.T.

Okay, that`s fine, don`t worry!
How long time ago did you change the cartridges in your printer?

Customer Replay

About a month ago. It doesn't get used much.

Thank you!
Do you have access to the cartridges?

Customer Replay

Yes, if I take them out of the printer

Can you pull out the black one?

Customer Replay

Yes. I have now removed the black cartridge from the printer

Okay, thank you!
Is it clean?
Please, check it for leaks or any damage.

Customer Replay

the 'print head' looks a bit inky. Should I clean it? The electrical contact looks clean.

Okay, noted.
Yes, you can take some cloth or something like that and gently wipe it.

Customer Replay

OK I will do this – standby
I have cleaned the print head - shall I re-install the cartridge?

Yes, please! And then try to print again.

Customer Replay

OK
The problem is still there - slightly better than before but still printing some lines in heavy print and these are the lines that are 'blurred'
I could try changing the black ink cartridge, to see if that helps.

Do you have another one to try?

Customer Replay

Yes. I will change the cartridge.

Okay, take your time!

Customer Replay

Great. The new cartridge is printing perfectly. Obviously the problem was the original cartridge. So I am now OK to print. Thanks for your help, John

Is there anything else I can do for you today?
