I have tried some threads and looked at Xbox support, I assume it may be a battery problem but I want to make sure that’s the issue

Have you gone through the basic Troubleshooting steps on the Microsoft website?
Customer Reply
Yes

Have you tried to connect it via Wire?
Customer Reply
yes I have it connected through wire right niw

And it's working fine?
I see.
I see.
Customer Reply
No still not working

Understood.
Customer Reply
it turns on and blinks a few times then shuts off

Have you tried to replace the batteries?
Customer Reply
I’m not sure how I would go about that

Just a second please!
So basically you take of the two rear hand grips, and unscrew the four screws which are torx T9 screwdriver bits, then you pull of the front casing then take the internals out of the rear casing, disconnect the battery from the port on the mother board, then you plug in your new battery put your internals back in the rear cover, put the front cover on screw it back together and put the hand grips back on

Or you can visit a local repair shop and ask them to replace the battery for you.

Which method would you prefer?
Customer Reply
I may bring a new issue that my controller doesn’t even turn on now

Since you have tried the troubleshooting I would recommend you to change the battery.
Then it's 100% the battery.

I will take it in to a repair shop for someone to look at it

That would be the best option.
Customer Reply
im going to leave it plugged in until so

Does it turn on when it's plugged in or not at all?
Customer Reply
not at all

Then the battery is dead.
Do not keep it plugged in, it might damage the motherboard.
