Hello, thank you for using Howly.
What more troubleshooting have you done so far?
Well i went to my phone, iphone that is, changed my password, and switched off then on again, and still my voicemail does not work
Understood.
*****, let's first Make sure voicemail is set up on your iPhone:
well, i have no real choices, just a word that says greeting
I am in the UK
Great! That means that it is set up.
how come I cant get messages then
Let's now try the following:
Ok, done that, it went from default to custom, i have recored and saved, let me try and phone my cell from my landline
Great! Keep me updated!
it is still ringing
it says, the mobile phone you have tried to call is unavailable please call later
Understood.
Please try the following:
done, now what
Please try to call the iPhone once again.
ok, the mobile phone i currently called is unavailable
I see.
*****, after you have restarted the phone, have you unlocked the SIM card?
no
That is why the phone is unavailable, does it show you in the top left corner SIM locked?
no
But you have a SIM card in, correct?
yes i do
Noted.
*****, could you please tell me the name of your carrier?
EE
Thank you!
*****, I have found this option that you can try:
Send a text message with the text VM ON to 150 to turn on your voicemail.
Ok, back to the iphone now, it is an upgrade, and has given me trouble from the word go.
Could you please tell me, what trouble exactly?
well i had to shake the phone to get it started, rather weird, also the person who had it before me never cleaned out the phone
Understood.
Could you please try to send the text message as I have noted in the message above?
ok thank you for all your help, and you got the message I take it.
You're welcome! Have you sent the text message?
not yet, must I?
Please try to send a text message with the text VM ON to 150 to turn on your voicemail.
You can send it whenever you like
done
Please try to check your voicemail now.
ok, it is very short, i could barley hear it
But it works?
yes
Great news!
how can i make it longer
You can try to call your iPhone and record a message by yourself and then listen to it to double check.
The caller only makes it longer, the longer they speak the longer the message.
ok, i will have to give it more space for the answer
