My gmail work account was mixed in with my personal yahoo account

I purchased a new cell phone and after they transfered the Sim card and info, my gmail work account was mixed in with my personal yahoo account. Can't have those two together

Short summary:

  1. Determine the email applications: Confirm that you are using the Gmail app and the Yahoo app to view your emails, and you want to keep them separate.
  2. Check Gmail accounts: Open the Gmail app and tap on the account circle in the top-right corner. Note the number of accounts listed.
  3. Access folders: Tap on the three dashes in the top left corner of the Gmail app to access the folders. Look for "Primary" or "Inbox" and tap on it.
  4. Check for mixing emails: If you still see mixing emails, open the email from Yahoo that is mixed in. Take note of any forwarded emails from your Yahoo account to Gmail.
  5. Remove Yahoo account from Gmail: Open your phone's Settings app, go to "Passwords & Accounts" or "Users & accounts," select the Yahoo account, and remove it. Confirm the removal.
  6. Confirm Yahoo emails: Check if you receive new Yahoo emails for the next 24 hours and observe if they still appear in your Gmail.
  7. Remove Yahoo account from Gmail app: If the issue persists, open the Gmail app, click on "Settings," then "Accounts and Import" or "Google Account Settings." Remove the Yahoo email address and check for any other accounts that may be causing the mixing.
  8. Log out from Gmail web page: If the previous step doesn't resolve the issue, log out of your Gmail account on the web page. Click on your photo or icon, then "Sign out."
  9. Log back in: Log back into your Gmail account from the web page and check if the mixing issue persists.
  10. Remove Yahoo account from Google account: If the problem persists, go to your Gmail account settings and look for "Alternate emails" or "Advanced > Alternate Emails." Remove the Yahoo email address associated with your Gmail account.
  11. Verify Yahoo account on Yahoo website: Confirm that you can log in to your Yahoo account on the Yahoo website. Check the settings and ensure there are no forwarding options enabled.
  12. Restart and check: Restart your device and check if the issue is resolved.

Open your Gmail -> In the Top-Right corner tap on the account circle
How many accounts do you see there?

I see both my gmails accounts, but when i open the one it is all mixed up with my yahoo mail

I think you still have a Yahoo account in your Gmail app.
Please follow the next steps:

  • Open your phone's Settings app.
  • Tap Passwords & Accounts. If you don't see "Accounts," tap Users & accounts.
  • Under "Accounts for," tap the account you want to remove
  • And then Remove the account.
  • To confirm, tap Remove account And then OK.

It seems like you have forwarded some emails from your Yahoo account to Gmail.

I did get more yahoo emails which are again sitting in yahoo account as well as my Gmail acct

Find and click on "Settings" in your Gmail account, then on the Settings page Click on the "Accounts and Import" tab; Find the item "Import mail and contacts"; then deleted my Yahoo email address from there; Find the item "Check email from other accounts", then also delete whatever show up there;
You can follow the steps above to remove your Yahoo account from the Gmail app.

When I open a Gmail account from the web, it takes back to my open account.
I don't know how to log out. It doesn't give me that option

Open Gmail. In the top right, click your photo. Click Sign out.

Let us try this way:

  1. Sign in to your Gmail account at
    https://myaccount.google.com/privacy
  2. Under “Your personal info” click on the section “Email”
  3. On the next page, click on “Alternate emails” or “Advanced>Alternate Emails”
  4. You can remove alternate emails by clicking on the trash can icon next to each email
