I attempted to renew the service but received it with a new device. I've already changed my old magic phone number to this latest payment, but I can't get it to work. I suppose I should wait for the mail with the new device, which I do not want. If possible, I'd like to reuse the old device.

Please try this: go to www.magicJack.com, select Login. On this page you will see an option to start Rapid Renew. Enter your magicJack phone number and click RENEW NOW.

What I really want is for my old magic phone number working properly asap to avoid having to wait for the new device. If the old one can be used as a backup and that's the way to make it happen, that would be fantastic.

Alright, the issue is that the old number would work, but the old device got disabled by the magic jack company. So you cannot use the old one as a back up.
