I need to establish a new pass word for my mac computer.

Short summary:

  1. Click on the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen.
  2. From the dropdown menu, select "System Preferences."
  3. In the System Preferences window, locate and click on the "Users & Groups" option.
  4. In the Users & Groups window, you will see a list of user accounts on the left. Click on your user name.
  5. On the right side of the window, click on the small "Info" button next to your user name.
  6. A new window will appear. Click on the "Change Password" button.
  7. In the "Old Password" field, enter an incorrect password (since you don't remember your old password).
  8. Move to the "New Password" field and enter the password you want to set for your Mac.
  9. Confirm the new password by entering it again in the "Verify" field.
  10. If you have successfully entered the new password, it should accept it without showing an error message.
  11. Once the password is changed, close the window and exit System Preferences.

It wants me to put in the old password which I do not know. I put in a new password and I got a message that it was incorrect. How could it be incorrect when it was brand new. How can I put in an old password when I do no know it?

author

Got it

Do you have another account on your mac?

Customer Replay

no

author

Can I ask you to try the password for your apple id or email, please?

Customer Replay

ok
I think it worked.

author

Did you manage to change it?

Customer Replay

I think so because it did not give a response that said my password was incorrect.
I will try this new password when I attempt to install my printer.
