Hello, thank you for using Howly. I’ll be happy to help you out! May I ask your name?
*****
Nice to meet you, *****!
Are you seeing any error messages when trying to print?
yes, my computer says the printer is offline
Got you, sir. Have you tried any troubleshooting yourself yet?
yes. I am trying to connect using usb cable
Noted. Could you tell me what troubleshooting have you tried already, just so I know what was done and we can exclude the troubleshooting steps?
When I got to LAN settings, there is no setting for USB
That could be because you need to set up LAN settings if you're printing using a network, since you're using a USB cable, the set-up looks a bit differently.
So how do I set up with a USB cable?
We'll go through the process right now, no worries! Could you please tell me if the computer sees the printer?
yes it does see it
Very good.
Thank you for holding, *****! Since Apple computer quite often have an issue with printing while connected via USB cable Yes it does, but my old printer also appears.
It says printer is offline when I try to print.
Do you use USB connection to print with your old printer, too?
Yes
Noted.
Could you please tell me if you're able to get to your new printer's queue window?
Are you talking about the window located on the printer?
Do you see a printer icon? You can click on it and view the queue window that way, make sure to choose Canon Pro 200.
yes, the canon 200 is highlighted
Great, could you check what is the status of the print queue for this printer?
It says default
When I try to print it says the printer is offline
Very well, so it's chosen as the default printer.
Let's try this way: go to Apple menu > System Settings, then click Printers & Scanners in the sidebar. Click the printer in the Printers list on the right, then click the Print Queue button.
It is trying to print, but says the printer is offline.
Noted, thank you.
It shows 2 printers, one is Canon Pro 200, the other is Canon Pro 200 Series
Could you tell me if the ON lamp on the printer is not blinking, is it solid?
It is solid
*****, could you please try to delete this printer for now? We're going to try to connect it again.
OK
Great, let me know once you do it.
Ok, it is deleted from my Mac
Good, please disconnect the printer from the computer, as well as remove the cable from the printer, too.
Already done
Ok, now just to be 100% sure, turn off the printer and remove the power cord, let it sit for a full 60 seconds, and then reconnect again and turn it on.
ok, I have disconnected and now turned it back on.
Great work! Now, please connect the computer and the printer together by the USB cable.
OK, done
Very good. Now, from Apple menu > System Settings, click Printers & Scanners in the sidebar. Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax button on the right. A dialog appears listing printers, please note it may take a minute or two for your printer to appear. Once you see it, please click on it to add the printer.
It came up with the Pro 200 listed as the printer.
Ok, add the printer to your list, please.
It is already listed as the printer
Oh, I see. Does it still display the status as "offline"? Can you try to print?
IT PRINTED
Awesome! So happy to hear that :)
Thanks for your help.
