I have an HP Laser Jet printer that I cannot get back on line since comcast changed my Wi-Fi connect.

When I try to connect the printer it wants a password that I cannot find. What can I do?

Short summary:

Step 1: Retrieve the WPS PIN from the HP Printer

  1. Turn on your HP printer and ensure it is connected to the same wireless network you want to connect your computer or mobile device to.
  2. Locate the Wireless or Settings button on your HP printer and press it to open the menu.
  3. From the menu, select Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to initiate the WPS push button mode.
  5. Your HP printer will display an 8-digit WPS PIN.

Step 2: Note down the WPS PIN

  1. Make a note of the 8-digit WPS PIN displayed on your HP printer.
  2. This PIN will be required during the wireless setup process on your computer.

Step 3: Enter the WPS PIN on your Computer

  1. On your computer, navigate to the printer setup or configuration settings.
  2. Look for the option to add a printer or connect to a printer.
  3. Select the desired printer from the list of available printers.
  4. When prompted for the WPS PIN, enter the 8-digit PIN you obtained from your HP printer.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.

Step 4: Confirm Printer Connection

  1. After entering the WPS PIN, allow your computer to establish a connection with the printer.
  2. Once the connection is established, you should be able to print from your computer to the HP printer.

Hello, thank you for using Howly.
Could you clarify what exact password is it asking you to enter? What is the message you see on the printer panel?

Where do you see this message about the need to enter the password? On your PC or printer display?

Customer Replay

Both

Ok, but you are trying to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network, right?

I was told by comcast that I would have to reconnect my printer to the new Wi-Fi. From my computer I went to systems, to add a printer, selected the printer I wanted to add, and when I tried to add the printer I get an error messages asking for a password.

No worries. Please try it again. And make sure you are entering the new password of your Wifi, not the old one.
