I cannot use the Bing search as it comes up with numbers instead of letters when I try to type my search subject

I want to use Google Chrome as my default so how to I prevent Bing from showing up first

Short summary:

  1. Open Google Chrome on your computer.
  2. Click on the three dots icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.
  4. Scroll down to the "Search engine" section and click on "Manage search engines."
  5. Under "Default search engines," select "Google" from the dropdown menu.
  6. If Google is not listed, click on "Add" and enter "Google" in the "Search engine" field, "Google.com" in the "Keyword" field, and "https://www.google.com/search?q=%s" in the "URL" field.
  7. Click "Save" to save the changes.
  8. Close and reopen Google Chrome to ensure that Bing no longer shows up.

Hello, thank you for using Howly.
Do you mean that you want to see google results instead of Bing results when you are trying to find something in the web, *****?

Will be grateful for help with my new Acer notebook. Yes I want Chrome to be my default browser and get rid of Bing as it won't function properly

Got it! It's possible that you need to set up Google Chrome as your default browser and possibly change your start page to "Google" instead of Bing.
To set Google as your default search engine:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More and then Settings.
  3. Click Search engine.
  4. Next to "Search engine used in the address bar," click the Down arrow Down arrow.
  5. Select a new default search engine - Google.

Ok its all good I hope and I think I removed Bing.

Great work! Try to close Google Chrome completely and re-open it again.
Bing shouldn't show up anymore.
