Version 22H2
so far it's 146 files I can't open and the list keeps growing

Follow these steps to temporarily turn off real-time Microsoft Defender antivirus protection in Windows Security:

  1. Select Start and type "Windows Security" to search for that app.
  2. Select the Windows Security app from the search results, go to Virus & threat protection, and under Virus & threat protection settings select Manage settings.
  3. Switch Real-time protection to Off.

OK done

Now try to open one of your files.

I'd recommend turning it off when you need to open the files.
Do you have any additional questions I can help you with?

Customer Replay

will I have to do that every time I want to open a file or will it go back to normal?

It depends on which files you want to open.
It will go back to normal.

Customer Replay

OK thanks

If it's just a Word file.

Customer Replay

Don't worry.
