I have an sony laptop but the Microsoft os is going out of date and it seems that i cant upgrade, but the laptop is still good, what are my options?

i tried windows 10 and 11 and its says not suported

i was told by microsoft that support for my 8.1 OS was about to stop, and they recommend to upgrade, so followed via interent the upgrade process, and it said unable to use this process
it says the language or edition of the version of windows currently installed on your PC isnt supported by this tool?

if i purchase windows 10 or 11 will it work on this sony laptop, or will it fail?
I tried to use the free upgrade options via microsoft as they said it could
is my laptop man enough still?

yeah i know that already which is why i am attemptig to upgrade via MS windows

the laptop is 9 years old but works well under the current OS, MS win said that it will allow an upgrade, I'm thinking of purchasing a windows 10 11 os but i dont want to waste my money if the Laptop is too old now? but looking at the spec its still well able to functio and ist far behind other new laptops in spec?
is it because its a sony and sony aret any good?

im concerned that if i go for a complete reinstall my problem could get worse as the Laptop doesnt have a CD drive so I would need to create usb install?

ah so this laptop wouldnt work then? does that mean its a defuncted laptop, its speed is great, the screen is touch thats great, can it use win 10?

okay so win 10 is still supported by MS yer? which is fine by me if that works, i don't really care as long as it works, if i stay as i am will it fail at some point?

it was just that MS said i can still upgrade to win 10 for free if i wanted to, but it didn't work, which is why i called, but it will work if i try via a new install and buy a new license

ho well it was worth a go, thank you for your help, i may as well buy a new laptop and bin this one sadly, even though it works perfectly,
its just that it has all the software on it

ill loose that as i cant find the licensing paperwork anymore (over ten years ago)
and yer i can still use it but i want to use a new bit of software Flowkey, which i think needs win 10 at least
