It's easy enough to restore Viber on your phone. After installing the program, you need to enter your old contact number and password. If the account was deactivated, you will have to register a new one.

According to the developers, the data of Viber users is not stored on servers. But correspondence from the application can be copied to cloud storage or written to smartphone memory to be downloaded back to the program later.

How to back up Viber chats

Restoring data from cloud storage works only if it has been set up in advance. After installing the program and entering personal information, Viber will automatically offer to download a backup copy.

It will only be available for use on the same phone number and Google or Apple account from which you originally started the backup. Here's how you can do it:

1. Open Viber and go to Settings.
2. Find the "Account" tab, then open "Backup".
3. Connect Google Drive on Android or iCloud on iOS.
4. Select to copy via Wi-Fi only or via mobile networks as well. Select whether to save photos and videos to the cloud.
5. Set the time interval at which the upload will be repeated.
6. Click Create Now.

Forward the correspondence to a friend

Another, less convenient option for recovering correspondence is to ask a friend or colleague to forward you all or some of your messages. This way you can prepare for possible disruptions and reinstallations in advance.

1. Go to the right chat room.
2. Tap and hold the space near one of the messages.
3. The selection tool is activated. Select all the entries you want to forward.
4. Click the arrow icon in the lower right corner of the screen. A list of contacts you can message to open.
5. Check the box next to everyone you want to forward the chat to. Click the Send button.

How to restore chats in Viber after deletion

When you reinstall Viber, it will offer you to restore the reserve of correspondence immediately after entering and activating the phone number. But you can also download saved chats from the already installed application. To do this, proceed as follows:

1. Open the basic Viber settings and go to "Account" → "Backup".

The only way to recover deleted messages without backups is with the help of friends. Ask them to resend you previously sent messages in the conversation.
