Nowadays, you can see many specialists offering services for installing operating systems. In fact, this was relevant many years ago, in the days of Windows XP or earlier. Back then, it was necessary to be well-versed in most functions to install the system. In the era of Windows 10 Pro, everything can be done with your hands. The software is moving toward unification and simplification, and most of the previously relevant settings are done in automated mode. After the first installation, it will be apparent that you can solve the task entirely on your own, even if you are a person who is very mediocre with the computer.

Where to start

  1. First, find a USB flash drive with the operating system installation files. In the boxed version, the Flash drive may be complete with the system files already loaded. But the boxed version is the most expensive. And since you are installing Windows on your own, choosing an inexpensive OEM version as an electronic key is better.
  2. After purchasing a license key, you can download the latest version of the operating system and upload it to any Flash drive. The key and a link to the distribution will come to your email and will be available in your account on the site after the purchase. It is strongly recommended to use a license and not a pirated version.
  3. Next, you will need to enter BIOS after rebooting the computer, but the combination of keys to enter is very different on each motherboard.
  4. You must set the drive to priority by selecting it at the top of the list. Remember to put everything back in after the installation is complete.
  5. After the operation is complete, you must do a reboot with the key on the system unit.

Be careful

How to install Windows 10

Many users habitually dump files to the C drive or leave them on the desktop. If the previously installed OS has not reached a non-operational state, save all files to a non-system hard disk drive at home. Otherwise, all your accumulated information will be systematically destroyed. This is a common practice when installing a system, so you must be extremely careful. If the OS crashes completely, you must remove the hard drive and connect it to another working computer.

Sequence of actions

We should immediately warn you that you should read everything Windows 10 Professional offers. It is the user's inattention that leads to undesirable consequences. Next, you should do the following steps:

  1. Choose the bit size of the operating system you need. For this, you need to know the modification of the processor. If possible, modify your computer to 64 bits.
  2. The next step is to wait for a while. Always wait, and do not try to restart your computer with the button. This can permanently interrupt the installation. Then you will have to start all over again.
  3. You must select your computer's main languages and then continue with the installation.
  4. Enter the license key. As already mentioned, the ideal option in terms of price is an OEM key. This is the cheapest way to get a licensed operating system.
  5. Select an edition. Accept the license agreement by checking the box and clicking the button. Experts recommend that you read it, but in practice, no one does.
  6. Choose where the system will be installed.
  7. If the device was already under OS management, install it on the same drive. If the HDD is not partitioned into volumes, do it right here.
  8. Patiently wait for the installation to complete. Your participation is not required after that.

After installation, the system will reboot. After that, you will need to do the initial setup.

What to do if errors occur?

If it starts right after installation, there are only two options:

  • First, it is necessary to test the hard disk. This is done with a second computer and partial replacement of parts. In this way, it is possible to establish what is not working. If all removable parts work, then the problem is in the motherboard, which is not uncommon.
  • You decided to save $30 and installed a pirated operating system. The hacked version often does not have enough key files or contains the so-called stub files. This is only the tip of the iceberg. Further use is fraught with data loss, a totally vulnerable security system up to using your computer to send viruses, Trojans, and insecurity of financial data. The cost of a licensed operating system will eventually be recouped by the nerves you save.
