Hello, thank you for using Howly. I’ll be happy to help you out! May I ask your name?
*****
Nice to meet you, *****!
I started an Instagram page related to the niche of my product and would just repost content there. It grew up to 4000 followers and had a decent engagement. The audience was targeted locally.
Then I decided to archive all the posts, change the username and make it my product page.I am now posting a much better quality content but my engagement really plummeted.
I am not shadowbanned but it looks like the algorithm didn't like that move and most of my followers are now ghost followers. I still have new followers and a decent reach on some posts but almost no likes.
Should I try to keep going hoping that the new followers will end up being a decent percentage and drive the engagement up again or restart a new account ? Is trying to remove the ghost followers worth it ?
my IG account is now called *****
Got you
Alright, in your case the engagement fell off because the point of the page was changed, the original followers probably don't care about the new content
You can keep the page as is and try to slowly grow new subs keeping the old ones as a back bone, the page would look more respectable
Hum... I understand
Having so many ghost followers wouldn t have negative effects on the account in the long term?
A bit like having bots or fake followers ?
Well they are not fake per se, just inactive
Got you
thanks a lot
Glad to be of service
