I have an M365 work account with 5 users associated with it and I have my own domain name linked with this work accountand all the email addresses use the domain name

I am dissolving my business but want to retain my domain name. I am looking at creating at M365 family account and want to associate my domain name emails with this.

Nice to meet you, *****!
Did I understand you right, you need to transfer your domain name to another Microsoft 365 account?

I want to end my business account, create a family account and move my dominate to that so I can continue to have the same email address

Okay, got it
Do you already have a family account?
Customer Reply
Not yet. Want to know all the details before I create it

To do this, there is a very large instruction that will not fit in this chat. I can email them to you and you can tell me if they suit you. What do you think?

Sounds good. *****@goosewing.org

That's reads as complicated. It is based on moving from a business account to another business account. Are you sure the configuration in M365 family is structured the same?

I am sure, that they are similar. Have you received my instructions yet?

Yes read it through. It looks like I need to set up a family account with the bland outlook.com email and when ready work through the steps. I am concerned with getting halfway and not being able to associate the domain name and so lose my history and email

I understand you.
Sir, we can try to transfer data from your business account to your Family account.
Would you like to try this?

There's not much on the business share point I can probably drag it to a one drive account once set up. You've given me the framework. Let me have another show read through, set up a family account and get everything in place except the domain name change and then when ready I can try that as per the instructions. If I hit issues I can come back

Sure.
This part will result in downtime. You need to remove your vanity domain from the old tenant, wait for that change to propagate, then add it to the new tenant. Hopefully, it takes minutes. I’ve seen it hours before :
The recommendation is to set up a backup of your Microsoft and let mail flow there while the downtime is experienced.
I don’t suppose you have a commercial spam filter in front of your tenant, do you? That would at least catch emails received during downtime and queue them for redelivery later.

I'm happy to take downtime. Would an auto forward of emails to another account work

So you want to resend all emails from a business account to the family account?
Customer Reply
I would sending to a separate personal account
