When you are trying to access your account, can you see the button "Forgot password"?

yes we have done all that
on the xbox

i switched the password for it afew years ago it wont accept the new password
to allow me to sign into my games

Please, try the following again:
1. Open this link https://account.live.com/password/reset
2. Enter your email address linked to the account
3. Choose where you’d like to send a security code (email or phone number).
4. Once you receive your security code, you’ll be prompted to choose a new password and enter it twice. Passwords should be at least 8 characters long and should contain a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
