When you are trying to access your account, can you see the button "Forgot password"?

yes we have done all that
on the xbox

i switched the password for it afew years ago it wont accept the new password
to allow me to sign into my games

Do you mean that the last time you changed your password was a few years ago and now it doesn’t accept it?

Please, try the following again:

Open this link https://account.live.com/password/reset
Enter your email address linked to the account
Choose where you’d like to send a security code (email or phone number).
Once you receive your security code, you’ll be prompted to choose a new password and enter it twice. Passwords should be at least 8 characters long and should contain a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
