Okay, thanks.
Also, what exactly do you mean by cleaning the washing machine?

I got it, okay.
The best way to prevent hard water buildup is to use a water softener or a home filter.
Periodically cleaning your washing machine will help to remove hard water buildup. The following steps can be used for both front-load and top-load washing machines.

  1. Empty the washing machine, and then pour four cups of white vinegar into the tub.
  2. Run the longest and hottest wash cycle with no detergent.
  3. Once the cycle is complete, clean the inside of the washer with a sponge.
  4. Then, run the washing machine one more time with water and no detergent. This will remove the leftover vinegar.

Note: If you have a top-load washer, you can stop the cycle halfway, then scrub the inside and dispensers with a toothbrush or sponge, and then resume the cycle.
