Many video sites (including YouTube) now offer a "Picture-in-Picture" mode. But how does it work? In plain words, it allows you can watch a video while searching for other interesting content on the web. In macOS, the Safari browser allows you to do more or less the same thing - but on a system-wide basis. So you can do routine work and watch webinars and other useful videos at the same time.

Interested? Then you definitely need to follow our guide and set it up:

  1. Open the video page and start playback. A loudspeaker icon appears in the tab. Right-click on it (or left-click with the Ctrl button) and a dialog box appears. Select "Enter Picture-in-Picture mode". The video will shrink and move to the bottom right corner of the screen.
  2. You can move it to any other location and resize it by dragging the window frame. The video tab will always remain on top of the open applications - convenient if you need to constantly switch between windows and programs while working.
  3. To close a video, just hover it and click the cross icon. Or click the Picture-in-Picture button to continue viewing in the original tab.

This feature works not only with YouTube but also with most other popular video hostings. Enjoy!
