The amount of internal storage in even the most basic versions of smartphones is growing, but along with it, the size of photos, videos, and firmware files is increasing. This means that the problem of quickly running out of free space is not going away. iOS notifies you when the storage is full. However, if you don't want to wait until the last minute and prefer to keep everything under control, you can find out how much storage is left in the following ways.
If you only need to find out how many gigabytes are available on your smartphone, the fastest way is to look at the summary information about the gadget.
To do this, go to "Settings" → "General" → "About" and look at the "Available" line, which is under "Capacity". This will indicate how many gigabytes of the total are currently available.
If you are not satisfied with the short answer and need to see not only the number of gigabytes but also what is using the space, you should go to another section of the smartphone.
Below will be a list of all applications, along with the date last used and the volume occupied. You can open each one to clear the cache or delete it. At the very bottom, you can see how much space iOS itself and system data are taking up. You don't need to do anything with the latter - this is a cache for quick access to app data, which will be cleared automatically when there is not enough space.
When the device is connected to your computer, you can check the available space directly from Finder or iTunes.
After that, the total storage capacity and available space will be shown under the smartphone's name. Below, you can see a chart with color separation by content type for visual assessment. Hovering the cursor over each category will show the exact amount of space occupied.
