Why does my Bissell vacuum keep shutting off before I move forward with it?

Short summary:

  1. Turn off the Bissell vacuum and remove the foot assembly by pressing the silver button on the back of the assembly.
  2. Remove the brush from the foot assembly by turning the groove on the brush clip using a coin or screwdriver.
  3. Clean the brush and end caps from debris until the end caps spin freely.
  4. Check the suction channel on the foot assembly and clear it from any debris.
  5. Put the brush back in the foot assembly.
  6. Attach the foot assembly back to the vacuum.
  7. If the issue persists, remove the hand vac unit and try running the vacuum without it.
  8. If the vacuum runs fine without the hand vac unit, reattach the unit and try using it again.

No light flashing.
Red light is on now.

Is it solid or blinking?

Customer Replay

While waiting I did press power again with no luck. Maybe that is why the Red light came on.
solid

So the light was red and then it turned off again, correct?

Customer Replay

No...it is still on.

Could you please check if the vacuum still shuts off without foot assembly?

Customer Replay

I removed hand vac unit and vacuum ran fine. I then put it back in stick and it seems to be working ok. I will try using it while on now.

Sure, if the issue comes back contact us, and we will help!
Do you have any additional questions I can help you with?

Customer Replay

Seems ok NOW... Thanks for your help. Can you guess what the problem was?

The problem was the debris in the brush if i had to guess

Customer Replay

ok...bye

The reattachment of the assembly just reset the info that Vacuum had about the brush so that it can run.
