Determine the distance between the Smart Hub or base station and the cameras. The maximum line-of-sight range is 300 feet, which can be reduced by walls or other obstructions. Keep in mind that walls may affect the signal quality.
Hello, thank you for using Howly.
Are you referring to Arlo Smart Hub?
yes I purchased this system 4yrs ago and am now setting up in new house
internet is at house where base station will be setup & cameras 80m away at shed
You can place your Arlo camera a maximum of 300 feet from the SmartHub or base station. The maximum line-of-sight range of 300 feet is reduced by each wall, ceiling, or other major obstruction between the camera and base station.
is this workable or do I run a cable to shed
This should be good, but remember that walls may affect the quality of the signal, hence the longer distance may not be as effective.
ok it will go through 2 walls 1 timber & 1 steel?
Do I still have to hard wire base station to route
You should try it, but I would assume that it should work just fine.
You have to try first, and then let's see if some other work needs to be done.
trouble is im laying power cable so what to know before instillation if would work
I see, then I suggest hard wiring base station to route as you said.
can i set up base station in house and hard wire to another station in shed
Yes, you can do that.
base station in house 10 m from route wireless then hard wired to shed base station
Sure, you can connect it all, and it should work.
I have needs to be hardwired to modem & I have starlink which doesnt have extra connection port
In this case, you can try to use a network switch: a network switch allows you to expand the number of available Ethernet ports on your modem. Connect the Starlink modem to the network switch, and then connect both the base station and your other devices to the switch using Ethernet cables. This way, you can have multiple devices connected to your modem simultaneously
ok Ill get 1 of those then
thanks
You are most welcome!
