We can hear the live tv but have lost the audio through foxtel.

My husband has a hearing problem and uses headphones to hear the television

Short summary:

  1. Check the mute settings: On both the TV remote and the Foxtel box remote, look for a Mute button. It is usually represented by a speaker icon with a crossed-out line. Press the Mute button on both remotes to ensure that the audio is not muted.
  2. Adjust the volume settings: On the TV remote, use the volume buttons to increase the volume level. Make sure the volume is set to an audible level.
On the Foxtel box remote, adjust the volume using the volume buttons as well. Ensure that the volume is not set to the minimum level.
  3. Verify the headphone connection: Check the cable connection between the Foxtel box and the TV. Make sure the cable is securely plugged in on both ends.
If you are using wireless headphones, ensure that they are properly paired with the TV or Foxtel box according to the manufacturer's instructions. Refer to the headphone's user manual for specific pairing instructions.
  4. Test the headphones: If you have a compatible device such as a computer, try connecting the headphones to that device to check if they produce sound. This will help determine if the issue lies with the headphones or the TV/Foxtel box.
  5. Power cycle the TV and Foxtel box: Turn off the TV and the Foxtel box by unplugging them from the power source. Wait for about 30 seconds, then plug them back in and turn them on again. This will reset the devices and may resolve any temporary issues.

Can you try to connect headphones to your computer, for example, and check if they will be producing sound, just to check that the cable is working?

The headphones are wireless so we have no way of connecting

MY HUSBAND FEELS IT IS MORE TO DO WITH THE TELEVISION COMPONENT OF THE SYSTEM NOT THE HEADPHONES THEMSELVES
IS THERE SOMEWHERE IN THE TV REMOTE THAT COULD HAVE TURNED OFF THE SOUND IN THE HEADPHONES OR FOXTEL BOX

Top answer

Well, it is better to check all the equipment included.
Yes, there's a Mute button, that can cause that. Looks like a Speaker crossed with a line.
But that Muted state could be turned off by simply adjusting the volume.
