My ice maker has stopped making ice and I can’t figure out how to remove the ice cube tray

Do I need a special tool to remove it? I have pulled, lifted and tugged at the tray and it doesn’t budge.

Hello, thank you for using Howly.
Can you please specify both the brand and the model of your device?

Could you please tell me when and how did the problem occur?

Customer Replay

it just stopped giving ice. It hums like it’s trying to give ice, but nothing comes out. The water still comes out.

What troubleshooting have you done so far?

Customer Replay

well, the problem is I can’t seem to remove the ice tray.

Lets try all possible solutions in order to fix it
Firstly, check to see if there is ice in your ice bucket.

Customer Replay

we bought the fridge in 2019 and I have never removed the ice bucket.
how do I open or remove the ice bucket?
the manual says the ice bucket just slides out…well, it doesn’t!

Got you!
- To remove: Lift the ice bucket (1).
- To relocate: Place the ice bucket into the
Super extended drawer (2).

The photo you sent is not my fridge. I will send photos

Thank you for the shots!
Hugh, it seems that "Ice maker feature" is off at the present moment.
To toggle ice-making on a panel, touch the words below the Ice Off icon. It will light when the ice maker is off, and be dim when the ice maker is on

Customer Replay

No, it’s on and when I try to get ice, I can hear the motor running.
Water flows, no problem.

Please, check the water pressure
Your water line should have enough pressure to fill 6 ounces in less than 10 seconds. Just dispense water into a measuring cup.

Customer Replay

it does.

Great!
Does your model have a dispenser?

Customer Replay

it has an ice dispenser and has given us ice every day since 2019.

Top answer

Okay, got you. So let's try to reset your ice maker then. Please follow these steps:

  1. Remove your ice bucket so you can get to your ice maker.
  2. Locate the test button. It's a rectangular button near the front of the ice maker, on the side or bottom. There may be writing that says TEST or an arrow pointing at it.
  3. Press and hold the button until you hear a chime indicating that the test is starting.
  4. Quickly put the ice bucket back in; depending on the type of ice maker you have, whatever ice is in the ice maker will dump soon.

step one…I can’t remove the ice bucket!

Okay, could you please try to grab your ice maker at the bottom and lift it up and then down? It should help you to remove it.

Customer Replay

alright now, I have the fridge unplugged because I think the ice bucket is frozen in.
wont budge.
been there done that as it is slowly thawing, it is coming out a tiny bit further.

Good. Also, you could remove it easier if you take a screwdriver or pliers and press them to the tab at the top. Here is how the tab is supposed to look:

Ok, I finally got the ice bucket thawed enough to remove it.

Is everything ok now?

Customer Replay

Well, I pushed the test button and put the bucket back in after I heard the chime, but I suspect it will take some time to make ice.
Thanks for your help.
