If an application on your Mac hangs and doesn't respond to the shutdown command, you can try to close it manually. This also prevents additional windows like "Are you sure you want to quit?" that some programs show when you try to shut them down in the usual way.

To do this:

  • Just right-click on the application icon with the ⌥ key pressed. The End menu item will change to Forced end.
  • You can also call the forced shutdown manager by pressing ⌥ + ⌘ + Esc. Select the halted application in the list and press End.
Howly expert is ready to help you with your Mac OS problem
