My Epson ES 400 II scanner abruptly stopped working by not putting the paper through the machine

When I put a document in it I want scanned, it does nothing. The paper doers not move when I press the scan button.

Short summary:

  1. Turn off the scanner and the computer.
  2. Unplug the power cord of the scanner from the power source.
  3. Check the USB cable connection between the scanner and the computer to ensure that it is secure.
  4. Plug in the power cord of the scanner back into the power source.
  5. Plug the USB cable securely into the scanner and the computer.
  6. Turn on the scanner and the computer.
  7. Try scanning the document again by pressing the scan button on the scanner or using the software on your computer.
