What happens when you press the power button?

- Press and hold the ON/OFF button down, and then insert the power cord back into the Brother machine. Do not release the ON/OFF button until the machine has been powered on completely or after 15 seconds.

had to move the printer close to switch. are you asking me to plug cord in while its swiched on?

I usually plug in with power point turned off then switch p/point on. your asking me to hold the on button while plugging in the lead when the p/point is on.
