I purchased a refurbished laptop and the screen does not fill the entire field

I have about 2 inches of black on each side. Top and Bottom are ok. The colors are not very bright they are very dull.

Try to change the Display Resolution Via Settings:

  1. Click Windows 11's Start menu button.
  2. Select Settings to bring up that app's window.
  3. Click the Display navigation option on the System tab.
  4. Next, click the Display resolution drop-down menu shown directly below.
  5. Choose an alternative resolution setting there. Check if you have Recommended option

Yes now i have a full screen. But my color is not quite as bright as it should be. What can i di to brighten up the color.

Please, try to calibrate your monitor:
Select the Start button, then enter settings. Select Settings > Display. At the top of the Display screen, select your built-in display. Select HDR or Use HDR, then select Display calibration for HDR video.

Please, try to adjust brightness this way:
Press and hold the Fn key, and then simultaneously press the F8 key to brighten the screen.
