Canon TS5150 printer not responding using usb cable

When I select a document to print from my laptop to the Canon TS5150 I am getting a dialogue message saying Printer not responding

- Now double left click on the printer icon
- Double left click on "see what's printing"
- Left click on printer (situated on the top left of the box)
- Left click on cancel all documents.
- Return to "devices & printers"
