New printer won’t print checks from quicken

Will do anything else, including wash dishes. Need to print checks. desktop is ACER. brandy new HP 7985 Printer. No idea what other info you need. wireless connection. no other devices

Could you tell me what happens when you do these steps, please?
1. In Quicken, choose File > Print Checks.
2. Select the account containing the checks to be printed.
3. Select which checks you’d like to print.
4. Click Print.

I can tell you exactly what happens. the word "cancelling" flashes on the printer screen and no check pops out. I've been doing this all day

Have you tried these steps?
1. Go to File > Validate and Repair File.
2. In the next prompt, select Validate file and Reset all Quicken printer settings.
3. Click OK.
4. Restart your computer.
5. Try to print again.

we can try this. Last "restart" took 25 min and eventually had to unplug and replug machine to make it go again. will open quickn now.
