I want to install socks5 on my chromebook but don't have linux

You can install the Socks5 Configurator as an addon via Google Chrome.

i have downloaded it - but don't see anywhere to run the program or activate it

At the top right, click More (three vertical dots), then More tools. Extensions.
In the Extensions menu please select the Socks5 plugin
it won't allow me to click on extensions - I see it but it's greyed out

I believe I do. It will make it look like i'm using a computer from somewhere else. But unlike VPN it won't completely block everytthing so I will still look credible

The thing is, for you Chromebook it would be enough to just use the add-on in your browser.

To use a SOCKS proxy in the browser you have to get access to it. You can get a proxy on https://5socks.net.
Follow these steps:
Go to https://admin.5socks.net and login in your account.
