Hello, thank you for using Howly, my name is Vitalii. I’ll be happy to help you out! May I ask your name?
*****
Nice to meet you, *****!
Can you please explain the issue in detail?
My laptop is failing to connect to wifi. I already did a trouble shoot and the issues found are:
What are they?
Windows can't communicate with the device or resource
Security or firewall setting might be blocking the connection
I see
The first issue also specifies Is this your home Wifi that your laptop fails to connect to?
It's also failing to connect to the wifi at my community college and my hot spot
Clear
What do you recommend?
Could you specify which version of Windows you use?
It should be the latest version of windows but let me double check
Okay, please double check
It's the latest version
Noted
If it helps I have a vpn
Is it turned on?
No it can't be turned on without wifi
Yeah, right
Can you please specify both the brand and the model of your laptop?
Dell Inspirion 2000
Thank you for the provided intromation!
Did you notice why it stopped connecting to Wi-Fi? Maybe after some changes in system or something like that
The only real change this laptop has been through is I just brought it back from Japan. Other than that there's nothing else I can think of or noticed about why it stopped connecting.
Got it
Keep in mind I didn't buy it in Japan, I brought it with me to Japan and left with it.
Okay, understood
Do you have Windows 10?
Windows 11 Home
Got it, thank you
Does it see the network?
How do I check that? I'm looking at windows specifications rn
I mean, when you are trying to connect to WiFi, do you see it or there is nothing in WiFi settings?
It boes see the wifi options.
Does
And is there a list of available wifi?
Yes
Noted
I'm currently at my community college and there's only one network available for public use. The others require passwords
Understood
Have you checked the airplane mode?
To abb more context for my problem. While connected to the public wifi below the name it jumps back and forth between "Connected, open" and "No internet, open"
My airplane mode is off
Thank you for additional information!
Please follow these steps:
It says: Select the Network adapter to diagnose. And the options are Ethernet 2, wifi 2, NordLynx, and All network abapters
Which one do you recommend?
Wi-Fi 2
"Possible Solution: Networking Reset" are the results.
Is there anything else on the screen?
There was a button a pressed that was something on the lines of networking configurations and now it's saying Reset your network configurations.
Okay, I see
It also says it couldn't detect the direct issue but it's offering a network reset as an option
Could you, please follow the instructions I am going to send you, and let me know if any of the steps are not quite clear?
I'll be happy to clarify them to you!
Restarting now
Okay
Oh yeah, my guy. Perfect results.
Does the Wi-Fi work?
Sure does
Great!
