We had a zoom event today and we were hacked

What should we do.

Hello, thank you for using Howly. I’ll be happy to help you out! May I ask your name?

Customer Replay

*****

Nice to meet you, *****!
Please describe your request with as many details as possible for me to get the whole picture of the situation.

Customer Replay

Many individuals came on and were vulger verbally and with pictures as well as took control of the chat function. In addition one person was new and may have assisted in the disruption. We removed them and they were still able to come back on.

Was your meeting private?

Customer Replay

Yes the meeting was private. You needed to register through constant contact as separate program but people from meetup were given the link and didn't have to register through constant contact.

Ok, do you need help with blocking those accounts from accessing your future meetings?

Customer Replay

No. We want to know how to prevent this from happening again.

Do you suspect someone from the meeting might've invited them?

Customer Replay

What securities are available with Zoom.

Just click the Security icon at the bottom of your Zoom window. In the pop-up, click the button that says Lock Meeting

Customer Replay

We don't believe so. All but one participant was part of our organization. I don't see the security icon. Can you assist us where it is.
Just found it.

Great!
Is everything clear with the provided instruction?

Customer Replay

When does that have to be done and What does that do to stop someone coming on before the event starts?

You gather everyone you need in your meeting and then lock it through the security icon, preventing others from joining

Customer Replay

So if someone goes into the meeting room how can we verify that they are appropriate to be let in?

You'll be able to see their request to join, which you can approve

Customer Replay

Do we need to report this to anyone other than Zoom?

banner 9

Only Zoom. As the meeting host or a participant, click the meeting information icon in the top-left corner of the window. In the bottom-left corner of the meeting information dialog, click Report. Enter the participantyou would like to report. Select the reason for reporting the participant

Customer Replay

The person that was new received the list of participants emails. Do you think this will be a problem?

I don't think so, no

Customer Replay

Can that person come on to our next zoom invite even though we have a new link?

They wouldn't be able to

Customer Replay
