Want to return my Vizio TV to factory settings but controls are unresponsive.

It won't respond to pressing any buttons on your remote control?

I got to the point where it invited me to return to factory settings. I said, 'Yes', and nothing happened. Picture is a mess. Sound is fine.

How long has it been since this issue emerged?

A few days. I've had the set for some years and it has been wonderful!

Have you tried unplugging your TV for 60 seconds, then plugging it back into the outlet?

It comes up reluctantly, looks great for a minute or so and then turns itself off!

Please press the MENU button on your remote.
Does the menu appear on your screen?

Yes, and then the set turns itself off!

Is there a control panel on your TV that looks like the following?

Tell me more about it. Is it hardware with knobs on the right side of the back of the set?

Yes, but not necessarily on the right side
The buttons could be at the bottom or facing sideways

The buttons I found are on a small panel with an on-off switch, volume control, input button and channel selection.

Please carry out the following steps:

  1. Turn on your TV
  2. Immediately afterward, hold down the VOLUME DOWN button and INPUT button on the panel for about 15 seconds
  3. After about 15 seconds, you should see a message on your TV screen that says "to reset, hold the INPUT button for 10 seconds"
  4. Hold the INPUT button for 10 seconds as advised, and the factory reset will begin
