My hp7800 air printer won't work now that I've switched to a wifi system

how do i set up wifi for hp printer?

Short summary:

  1. Ensure that the printer is turned on and connected to your Wi-Fi network.
  2. On your printer's display screen, locate the wireless icon in the middle and tap on it.
  3. Tap on the gear icon that appears, which will take you to the printer's Settings menu.
  4. Scroll down in the Settings menu until you find the option for "Restore Network Settings" or "Restore Network Defaults." Tap on this option.
  5. Confirm the network settings restoration. This will reset the printer's network settings and disconnect it from any previous network connections.
  6. Disconnect any Ethernet cables connected to the printer, as Wi-Fi and Ethernet cannot be used simultaneously.
  7. After disconnecting the Ethernet cable, the wireless light on the printer should start flashing blue, indicating that it is searching for a wireless connection.
  8. On your computer, check the printer settings in System Preferences and make sure the printer is not listed as "offline."
  9. Open the HP Smart app on your Mac computer. If you don't have the app, you can download it from the App Store.
  10. Follow the prompts in the HP Smart app to set up your printer. It will guide you through the process of connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  11. Once the printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network, you should be able to print from your computer without any issues.
  12. If you want to print from your phone using AirPrint, make sure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
  13. Open the document or photo you want to print on your phone and select the Share or Print option. Look for the Print icon or the option to select a printer.
  14. Choose your printer from the available options and adjust any print settings if needed.
  15. Tap the Print button to start printing the document or photo from your phone.

Top answer

Great, please tap on that icon. After you do that, you will see a gear icon, please tap on it once again, it will take you to Settings.
Once you are in the Settings, please scroll down until you see "Restore Network Settings" or "Restore Network Defaults".
Let me know how everything goes, sir. I am here in case you have any questions along the way!

Customer Replay

it says not connected. light was flashing blue

author

Light flashing blue means the printer is searching for connection, so that's great!

Customer Replay

light not flashing. check wireless settings?\

author

I see. Try to tap on Wireless icon once again and let me know if you can see Wireless Setup Wizard, please.

Customer Replay

It says wireless will not work if Ethernet cable is connected. not sure which one that is

author

At what stage did you get that message, sir?

Customer Replay

I disconnected cable and the light is flashing

author

Did you connect an Ethernet cable directly to the printer?

Customer Replay

I disconnected it

author
Top answer

Great, please note that Ethernet connection is cabled connection, so we won't be able to set it up both the Ethernet and Wi-Fi at the same time.
Since the blue light is flashing once again, please tap on Wireless icon once again and let me know if you can see Wireless Setup Wizard.

Customer Replay

i entered the password for the router and it is on, thank you.

author

Well done! Now that the printer is connected to the computer, it should be able to print without any problem. Would you like perform a test print from the computer now to be 100% sure?

Customer Replay

I'm trying to print from my phone. it hasn't connected yet.
It worked. Thanks.

author

Awesome, glad to hear that, sir!
Perhaps you have any additional questions I can help you with?
