Friday past I rec’d a notice from Microsoft Team that new security info was added to my account & was asked to verify same. The new acct. was *****@hotmail.com. Since I changed my Microsoft account password last nite, with your help, does that mean this email is still there? Sorry for the inane question, but am very new at this. Thank you for your patience.

What do you mean by "there" ?
Is the person who owns this email is actually on my Microsoft acct at present. It as added last week to my Microsoft security.
Do you see that email anywhere in your account settings?
Nope. Just mine, plus tel #, etc.
Then everything should be OK. Just re-check your aliases and other settings like recovery emails etc. And remove everything you do not recognize
But, how can any person just add their info to someone else’s microsoft acct?
No, of course not!
That means that your account was compromised somehow and someone got access to it

That means that your account is safe now. But be sure that you have good protection like 2-factor authentication turned on
Should I log out of all sites, including fb, etc., when not using them?
That is not necessary. Just use the Internet safely. Do not click on suspicious links etc.
