KW-M560BT stereo doesn't work after the update

Short summary:

  1. Locate the reset button on the unit, which is usually located behind the faceplate.
  2. Press and hold the reset button for about five seconds until you see the message “RESET” appear on the display of your stereo.
  3. If this doesn't work, try getting another flash drive, downloading the update on it, and using it instead.
  4. Plug in the new flash drive and start the car.
  5. If it says "updating," then it's working. Wait for it to finish updating and reboot.
  6. Redo the MCU if needed.
  7. Make sure to do the updates in the proper order.

I was doing a firmware update, downloaded and extracted the necessary files. Also printed the instruction sheet. Following the steps I connected the USB drive to the unit. The "updated data" message appeared on the screen and I oroceeded as per the instructions. The screen immediately went black, so I waited about 5 or 6 minutes, nothing happened. So, as per the instructions, I removed and reinserted the drive Still no response. As of now, the unit is still not functioning. Only the small blue LEDs on the left side of the screen come on. Any ideas? This unit has been trouble free since I purchased it.

Let's try resetting it: locate the reset button on the unit. This is usually located behind the faceplate. Once you've found the reset button, press and hold it for about five seconds. After a few seconds, you should see the message “RESET” appear on the display of your stereo

Reset. Very bottom left side of screen. Using a pencil tip to hold it in. Felt it click

It wouldn't hurt, just if it happens again try doing the same thing we did right now, there's some bug in their software which stops the update and the screen blacks-out

Why not? But you got it working again. I'm on the road a fair bit and my stereo is my best friend. I have my iPod, a usb, Sirius XM all connected
Redoing MCU. That should be it.
Apparently they need to be done in order, eh?
