I have a Bluetooth speaker that keeps cutting out when I use it with my pc

When I use my phone the Bluetooth speaker works just fine. I don't know how to determine if it is a Windows upgrade issue or the actual Bluetooth card or chip in the PC has died
author

Hello, thank you for using Howly.
What is the model of your speaker?

Customer Replay

By the way, I signed up for total tech in December when I bought my 65" tv
taotronics is the speaker
But the speaker is for a 6 year old Dell desktop

Did you try to reboot your speaker?
I mean to turn it off and then back on

Customer Replay

I power it off and back on by pulling the usb

author

Are you able to connect it now?

Customer Replay

I get the five notes, then push the knob on the side quickly which generates 4 ascending notes and a short ringing sound. Usually the speaker works at that poiint

author

Is it working at the moment, *****?

Customer Replay

No, it has not worked in a week unless I connect to it with my phone.

Customer Replay

author

Well
*****, do you have any other Bluetooth devices with you?

Customer Replay

I have my phone and the speaker works with it.

Yes, I remember that.
It would be a nice option to connect another Bluetooth device to your PC and check if it works. ( if you have such an option)

Customer Replay

A wired connection or bluetooth?

author

Bluetooth one

Customer Replay

It said "couldn't connect" after a while.

author

*****, can you please go into the "Settings" of your phone and check Bluetooth connections now?

Customer Replay

Please, check whether your Speaker is connected to the phone.
It may cause a connectivity problem on your PC

Customer Replay

do phones come with usb ports?

author

Ports availability depends on the particular phone model, *****.
I mean, a Bluetooth connection between your phone and speaker

Customer Replay

The phone works with the bluetooth speaker

author

I understand
Please, turn off your Bluetooth on the phone.

Customer Replay

I wonder if I should not take the PC into a repair place or best buy so install a new bluetooth card

  1. Plug the sound bar to power, press and hold the "Power Button" until a beep is heard. The device is in the Bluetooth mode initially.
  2. When the indicator starts to flash fast, activate the Bluetooth function on your device and search for devices nearby.
Please let me know when you're done with that.
Customer Replay

The sound bar is hooked up to a usb netword. I held the power bar on the speaker but it did nothing until I released it. Then I heard the faamiliar notes. I cannot search for devices nearby my speaker because there is not display.

Please, follow the instruction above and let me know once it's done

Customer Replay

It makes 4 ascending beeping notes
My experience is that it normally pairs after I hear that

Now, all I get is a red X over the little speaker icon in the lower right
