I have Outlook on my 7 year old computer Iuse it without having to enter a password my new computer asks for a password which I don' t have

yes but I don't have to enter a password on the old computer

That's okay, you can create a password by using your email, allow me one moment to tell you how you can do it, sir.
On your new computer, please follow these next steps in order to create a new password for your Outlook account:

  1. First, navigate to the Reset your password page by the link below: https://account.live.com/password/reset
  2. Once you are there, enter your email -> *****@bigpond.com and choose "Next".
  3. You will be offered to get a code to your email, please choose "Get code".

After you do that, you will receive a code from Microsoft in your email inbox, please enter that code on that webpage and follow the on-screen instructions to create a new password.
When creating a new password, please make sure to write it down somewhere, so you can always have access to it in case you need it.

Okay, so when you go through password reset, does it send an email?

yes and that comes through to my old computer

And after that you enter the code from email and type in new password, right?

And then you try to log in with *****@bigpond.com and a new password and doesn't allow you to?

I type an email and when I press send I get the message no valid email accounts are configured

Then it seems like you have made a mistake when typing in email
