I have an HP 4100 and when I go print 1099, all I get is lots of lights and error messages

Is it not connected? Ichanged the ink and added paper

from L to R dark orange light, light orange light, blinking. then in the little window lots of things flashing, including a letter E. Dark orange light, blinking, and power button blinking white

Thank you for your clarification.
Please follow these steps to power cycle your printer:

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait at least 1 minute.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  6. Turn the printer on.

it cleared all the disco balls, and it is printing now. what was the problem??
