Customer Replay

Same here, Jahed
someone turned off the power to my N300 extender. I plugged it back in but get a red light for the client. I moved the extender right next to my router, plugged it in a nd got all green lights. I pressed the WAP button and also only router but I only get a red light for the client light. Help
I have green light for router link, green for power and green for WPS- the Client link is off

Please, try to reboot your router and extender.

Customer Replay

by unplugging both ?
and then repowering ?

banner 3

Yes, exactly.

Customer Replay

OK that'll take a few minites

Sure, take your time.

Customer Replay

Router just turned green- so I have green on Power, WPS, router- blank on client
My _ext does show up on my list of Wi-Fi networks butI'm not connected to it- only. to the original, non ext nw

Is it brand new and you haven't used it before?

Customer Replay

No- it seemed to be working fine until someone shut the light switch which powered the unit.
I've had it for at least a year and worked great.

banner 6

Ok.

  1. Use a sharp object such as a pen or paper clip to press and hold the Factory Reset button on the bottom of the extender for at least five seconds until the Power LED blinks amber.
  2. Release the Factory Reset button and wait for the extender to reboot. The extender resets and returns to the factory default settings.
Customer Replay

I thought putting the power back on would allow it to reboot and begin working again. It dud not seem to connect to the router. I therefore, moved it close to the router, plugged it in and it rebooted but does not seem to want to connect to the Client- Which should be either the router or an outside Rainbird controller that has a wireless module in it that connects the railbird controller to an app only [phone.
only = on my

So it is only connection to the phone, correct?

Customer Replay

Not sure I understand. The extender I snow plugged in and supposedly connected to my Comcast router.

All the necessary lights are on?

Customer Replay

So, I connected on my iPhone to the wifi called xxx_ext and I suddenly get all green lights.

banner 9

So you have the connection?

Customer Replay

So 1. If I unplug the extender and move it to where it needs to be to allow the outside device to connect to the network, Willis correctly reboot and all will be well ? 2. Does it mean when I want to use the app that uses the extender to perform, do I need to change MY IPHONE SETTING TO THE _EXT. WIFI ON MY IPPHONE ? That would make sense but I'm not sure..

First, let's try with #1
Hope
that will help

Customer Replay

I'm hoping that I use my "main" wifi for everything but the Rainbird controller and when I need the app for the Rainbird controller, I simply switch to the _ext wifi iand......ta da ???
I'll try #1 - I'm moving it to the wall plug in a different room- I'll be back to let you know what
happended....

Usually it has such logics

Customer Replay

I plugged the extender in, it rebooted and all went green except the client light is red- I went orange for a few seconds and then went back to red. My iPhone settings says I'm connected the _ext. wifi.

Then it means that when you want to use the app you have to change your phone settings on your iPhone

Customer Replay

I changed the iPhone setting to the .ext wifi and the client link seems to be cycling randomly. thru green, orange and red. Huh ??

Maybe we can try the factory reset? :)

Customer Replay

Onth extender, I assume

Customer Replay

How does one do that? I assume after I do that, it's like I took the unit out of the box and have to start everything over again ??

There are 2 outcomes - yes, you should start over or it may somehow reboot and work

Customer Replay

so unplug it and hit he factory reset button or do it while it's plugged in ?

Here is how you can do the factory reset:

OK- waiting for reboot- thx

Let me know the result

Customer Replay

so- I have green power light and nothing else on the extender- my iPhone no longer has the .ext for the extended wifi and I have netgear_ext listed on the wi fi on may Iphone
I'm concerned if Comcast uses WEP that would not allow me,I think, to connect using WPS.....

  1. Plug in your extender.
    The Power LED lights.
If your Power LED does not light, press the Power or On/Off button.
Customer Replay

I have a power light

  1. Connect your computer or mobile device to the extender's Wi-Fi network.
The extender's default Wi-Fi network name is NETGEAR_EXT. The extender network either has no password or the default password is password.
Your device might warn you that the Internet is not available. This is to be expected. Keep the Wi-Fi connection.
  2. Launch a web browser and enter mywifiext.net or 192.168.1.250.
The New Extender Setup page displays.
Customer Replay

I went to that and it sent me to the NETGEAR "new extender setup" page

4. Click or tap NEW EXTENDER SETUP.
If prompted to accept terms and conditions, click or tap YES or I AGREE.

Customer Replay

Im at page asking for various info-ie.emailpasswword etc

  1. Choose your extender's admin credentials.
These credentials are used to access your extender's settings on a web browser.
We recommend leaving the default User Name as admin and choosing a password that is different from your Wi-Fi network password.
At what stage did it asked?
Customer Replay

on the NetGEAR genie page- appears to want me to set up a new ccount

Let's try to set up the new account then

Customer Replay

ok doing that

Then proceed to the next step

Customer Replay

wants me to log into Netgear - which I successfully did- now scanning to give me a list of networks I want to extend
I selected the correct one

Go ahead

  1. Select and answer two security questions from the drop-down menus.
These questions are used to recover your extender's admin credentials if you forget them.
  2. Click or tap NEXT.
If your extender asks if you would like to use the NETGEAR Genie to help, click or tap YES or CONTINUE.
Your extender searches for local Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Select the radio buttons for your network's 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi Network Names it has set up the .ext network and it is listed on my I[hone wi Fi list. I am still connected to the non-ext network- so far so good.
    Finger crossed
Customer Replay

It also allows me to connect to the .ext network

9. Click or tap NEXT.

Customer Replay

NEXT ?? it kicked me out and went to my wi fi settings

  1. Enter your existing network's password and click or tap NEXT.
  2. Select SSIDs and passwords for your extender.
By default, the extender uses the name of your existing network with _2GEXT added to the end for the 2.4GHz band and _5GEXT for the 5GHz band. By default, the password for each band is the same as your existing network.
  3. For mesh extenders, you have an option to use the same Wi-Fi name and password as your existing network. Select the Enable One Wi-Fi Name check box to enable this feature if your extender supports it.
This allows your extender to use the same Wi-Fi name and password as your existing Wi-Fi network.
  4. Click or tap NEXT.
The extender applies your settings. This can take a few minutes.
The extender displays the Wi-Fi network name and password for each of your extender's bands. Take note of these.
Customer Replay

I can successfully join both my original network as Wll as the same network with.ext at it's end. I am on the original network.

  1. On a device that you plan to connect to the extender network, go to the Wi-Fi settings and connect to the extender's new network.
  2. Go back to your web browser, select the checkbox at the bottom of the page, and click or tap CONTINUE.
Your extender is now extending your network's coverage.
Can you please do that ?
Customer Replay

I'm not sure what you mean by a :"device I intend connect to the extender network- Im using the Comcast router to "feed" the extender and then I'll plan to connect th eRainbird controller to the extender....I think

Tell me please the number of the step that you have issue with.

Customer Replay

14

device that you want to connect to extender
hor Seliuchenko: Do you mean you do know what that device is?
Your device that was connected.

Customer Replay

Would that be my Comcast router ??

Customer Replay

On the Comcast router there is a WPS button but I have no idea how to get to the wifi settings ronthat device- I'm on MAC not windows if that helps.
ie. there is no checkmark on the bottom of the page.....

That device was a your computer
you have to open Wi-Fi settings on Mac on step 14

Customer Replay

I can join either network now- my original and the new. ext.

Connect to new extender's network
Just like it said in instruction

Customer Replay

So- I went over to the extender and all lights are green including the Client link. I think that is it as long as I can take the extender over o the room where it's to go and it reboots with all green lights. A t that point, I assume the issue can only be with my Rainbird controller and will have nothing to do with the extender as with all green lights, it's working correctly. I'm unplugging the extender and moving it. to the other room. Your patience with me has been extraordinary- thx;

Is there anything else I can do for you today?

Customer Replay

no sir. Thanks again

And about eRainbird
What issue you still have with it ?

Customer Replay
