Nice to meet you, *****!

Does it ask you to enter the password in the HP smart app?

Customer Replay

Yes, all was well until I selected Print photos and then was asked for the PIN from the printer

Don't you have the option "Reset PIN" or "Forgot PIN"?

Customer Replay

It is not my personal pin for logging in. It is a PIN that is written on the inside of the printer's door where you access the cartridges. So it is the printers' pin, not my pin.
The instructions in hp Smart tell you where to find this pin, but keeps rejecting it as invalid.

I understand.
Please, open this picture:

Do you have the same window?

Customer Replay

Ok I see it No I do not have hp Smart open at the moment

Did you have this window before?

Customer Replay

what window are you referring to? The window showing your picture? Or the window within hp Smart that looked like this to enter the pin. Ok Now I have the window I was had in hp Smart that looks like yours. That is where I entered the printer's pin.

Okay, good. Let's try to perform a hard reset of your printer. In the following messages, I will provide you with step-by-step instructions. I would be grateful if you could tell me when you complete every step.

Customer Replay

ok

  • At the beginning, your HP DeskJet 2700 needs to be turned on properly, if not press HP DeskJet 2700 power button and wait until the printer is ready to print.
Customer Replay

Power is on , Internet connection is lit. Paper icon is flashing - printer doesn't like how I have loaded photo paper.

  • Now you need to click and hold the Cancel Button and Wi-Fi Key.
Customer Replay

Not sure what the WiFi key is. WiFi key on the printer? Which is the cancel button?

You need to hold buttons 4 and 6.

Customer Replay

Ok, doing it now.

Thank you.

Customer Replay

ok both are off, power is blinking Printer took took in the two pieces of photo paper. NowWifi is blinking,

Did you hold it for 5 seconds?

Customer Replay

Yes

Customer Replay

try again?

Factory reset is complete and HP DeskJet 2700 settings are set to default values. Now you can connect it to the Wi-Fi and enter the PIN.

Customer Replay

I press wifi and it is still blinking. Hold longer?

Can you try to restart the printer?

Customer Replay

Do you mean turn it off and back on?

Customer Replay

ok

Thank you.

Customer Replay

Ok, it took a while to turn off. Now enter the same pin from the door in hp Smart?

Yes, please.

Customer Replay

wifi button is blinking. I haven't yet entered the Pin again. I have a mobile hotspot and it isn't showing that the printer has connected.

Good. Try to open the HP Smart app.

Customer Replay

It is open

Now enter the PIN.

Customer Replay

Message: couldn't connect to the printer. Check wifi connection and try again. WiFi button is still blinking. The wifi button on the printer has always seemed tempermental to me. Even if I hold it down, it continues to blink. I'll try again

Do you have a Windows computer?

Customer Replay

yes, hp

Open the HP Smart app. And press and hold the Cancel and Wireless buttons for three seconds again.

Customer Replay

OK I now have the home window for Smart

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Customer Replay

There are no instructions, just icons for what you want to do. Print photos, Scan, etc. When I got this far before, I chose Print photos and the Printer Setup process started first, and that is where I got stuck with the PIN process. Also, this screen says "printer offline". Obviously because the wifi button is blinking.

Do the same as the previous time to enter the PIN.

Customer Replay

Well nothing happens because the printer is not connected to wifi.

How did you connect it to the Wi-Fi before?

Customer Replay

Always just press the printer's wifi button and it connects automatically. I have turned off the computer. Let me try press the power button and then the Wifi button.

Customer Replay

Ok the wifi button is still blinking. Wifi service is on but shows only one connection. With printer connected, it should show two.

Customer Replay

This is not the first time this has happened and I don't think it's connected to the printer setup problem.

Does it appear in the HP Smart app?

Customer Replay

Ok wifi is now steady on. I'll select Print and send something to the printer. Ok it printed a page. but Smart didn't ask for the pint. I think this is because plain documents don't require Smart functions. I need to load photo paper and start over I guess. I was not asked for the PIN until I tried to print photos. Maybe I need to spend some time on this and if it's not fixed, contact Howly again. Is there a way to get back to you if I can't get this going?

Sure. You can save this chat as a bookmark in your browser, or copy the link in your address bar and paste it to any place you'd like. For your convenience, here's the link - https://howly.com/chat
