Help with this To update your account to use zsh, please run `chsh -s /bin/zsh`

For more details, please visit support.apple.com.

Short summary:

  1. Open the Terminal application on your MacBook. You can find it in the "Utilities" folder within the "Applications" folder.
  2. In the Terminal, type the following command: UNKNOWN TAG — code (without the word "run").
  3. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
  4. If prompted, enter your password (the same password you use to log in to your MacBook) and press Enter. Note that the password input will not show any characters as you type.
  5. If you receive a message saying "password or user name invalid," it may indicate an issue with the password. Make sure you are entering the correct password associated with your MacBook account.
  6. If the password issue persists, try running the command with administrative privileges using UNKNOWN TAG — code. Type the following command: UNKNOWN TAG — code and press Enter. You will be prompted to enter your password again. Make sure to enter the correct password and press Enter.
  7. After running the command successfully, you should see a confirmation message indicating that the shell has been changed.

Note: Changing your shell to zsh is not necessary for installing Python. If you encounter further issues or if your primary goal is to install Python for your school project, consider using alternative installation methods such as Homebrew or downloading the official Python installer from the Python website. Here's a brief guide for installing Python using the official installer:

  1. Open a web browser and go to the official Python website at https://www.python.org/downloads/.
  2. Click on the "Download Python" button to download the latest version of Python for macOS.
  3. Once the installer is downloaded, locate the installer file in your Downloads folder and double-click on it.
  4. Follow the installation instructions provided by the Python installer. Make sure to select the desired options and customize the installation if needed.
  5. After the installation is complete, you can verify that Python is installed by opening the Terminal and typing UNKNOWN TAG — code. Press Enter, and you should see the version number of Python displayed.

Try using sudo to run the chsh command with administrative privileges. For example, you can try running 'sudo chsh -s /bin/zsh' and enter your password when prompted.

Note that changing your shell is not necessary to install Python. You can install Python using a variety of methods, including using a package manager like Homebrew or downloading
and installing the Python installer from the official Python website.
One of the most common methods is using the official Python installer. Here's how you can install Python on a Mac:

  1. Open a web browser and go to the official Python website at https://www.python.org/downloads/.
  2. Click the "Download Python" button to download the latest version of Python for your operating system. Make sure to select the correct version for your computer like PyCharm or Visual Studio Code.
