Hello, thank you for using Howly. I’ll be happy to help you out! May I ask your name?
*****
Nice to meet you, *****!
I'm paying a monthly subscription to Skype for a UK based landline number & am unable to retrieve voice messages
Are you sure that your voice messaging is enabled?
Unsure
I got you.
Please, follow the instructions below:
Sign in to your account and, in the Manage features section, select Call forwarding and voicemail. Check that the status is Enabled. If it’s not, select the button to enable it. https://secure.skype.com/account/
Done
Next, try signing out of Skype and signing back in again: in Skype, select your profile picture and select Sign Out , and then sign back in. Voice messaging should now be enabled.
On the 2 messages which show as Anonymous, if I click on that, it goes to "invite to skype" or "add credit"
Alright.
Can you open Skype and check if the issue persists?
Still doing the same
Okay.

Do you want to retrieve voice messages that you sent to a specific person?
No. I want to retrieve voice messages that have been left for me
May I ask from whom?
I sent you the screen shots. Anonymous
Don't you think they deleted the voice messages?
No. They can't
I got you.
Let's try to retrieve your voicemails.
In the following messages, I will provide you with step-by-step instructions. I would be grateful if you could tell me when you complete every step.
Will do
Done

As you can see from the photo I just sent, it shiws the voicemail but with an exclamation mark
Yes, this is a default Skype page. Under these buttons, you can see the voicemail at the bottom of the screen.
Yes but showing an exclamation mark when you click on play
Can you move your cursor on the exclamation mark?
Yes
Does it show the reason why you can't listen to the voicemail?
Left click does nothing, right click just gives options to reply, downliad, save as, forward etc
Do I need to add credit to receive the message
I don't think so. Most likely, the voice message is too short. That's why you can't listen to it.
Can you listen to voicemails from other users?

I got you.
Do you have the same issue with the mobile Skype version?
Yes
I understand.
You can try to disable Call Forwarding temporarily:
This just made things worse. Made me log on under Microsoft. Now bot showing any of my chats etc. Nor could I find manage accounts
You had to open the Online Skype version.
I entered the url you gave me
Did you log in to your Skype account?
It made me login through Microsoft
The new one showing doesn't have my uk number showing or any chats or contacts
Okay.
Can you open this link?: https://web.skype.com/
How di I cancel the microsoft skype
Do you mean your Microsoft Skype subscription?
Yes I can open that link but again, its the microsoft one. No profile photo, no purchases, no chats etc
I want you to know that Skype is a Microsoft product.
I realise that. But it looks like it has set up a whole new account. Not the one I've been using

These are the only drop down menus
On the first picture, you have the "Settings" tab. Can you open it?
Yes, thats what i went into before
Okay. Let me find a different way for you.
Went to calling
Did you open it?
Then call forwarding and voicemail. Now disabled.
Good.
Check the Call forwarding option to disable it.
Wait patiently for 3 to 5 minutes before re-enabling the call forwarding option.
Log out of the Skype website.
Re-open the Skype application and log in to your Skype account.
All done. Re enabled call forwarding and voucemail

Great!
But you had to re-enable it through the website and then open the Skype app.
That's what I did. Doing it again
Oh, okay.
I have done it all. I rang the uk landline number & left a message to test it. It now appears to be working. Thank you
Great!
