I think I have an apple 12 or 13 and its stuck on verifying update

Short summary:

  1. Attempt a force restart on your iPhone:
Press and release the Volume Up button quickly.
Press and release the Volume Down button quickly.
Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.
If Siri appears, try the force restart sequence again, making sure to press and release the Volume buttons quickly and then hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.
  2. Once your iPhone has restarted, check the status of the software update:
Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
If the update is still downloading, wait for it to complete before installing.
If the update has downloaded, tap "Install Now" to begin the installation process.
  3. Wait for the update to complete:
If the update is in progress, let it complete. This may take some time, depending on the size of the update and the speed of your iPhone.
Your iPhone may restart during the update process. If it does, wait for it to complete.
  4. Once the update is finished, check if your iPhone is functioning properly:
Confirm that your iPhone has successfully restarted.
Test the basic functions of your iPhone, such as making calls, accessing settings, and using apps, to ensure everything is working as expected.

Hello, thank you for using Howly.
Could you tell me the error message you see on the screen if there is any?

I see. What troubleshooting have you done so far?

Customer Replay

clicking the volume buttons then the right side button. It does nothing
I can't dial, I cant get to settings.

If your iPhone has been stuck on "Verifying Update" for hours, it is likely that the update process has failed to complete properly. This can happen for a variety of reasons, including poor internet connectivity, insufficient storage space, or a software glitch.
Let's try force restarting your iPhone:

  1. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
  2. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

I see. Let's do it in this order then:

  1. Press and release the Volume Up button quickly.
  2. Press and release the Volume Down button quickly.

It's important to make sure that you press and release the Volume buttons quickly and then hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.

ok got the logo

Great! If the force restart successfully resolved the issue and your iPhone has restarted, you should check to see if the software update has completed or if it needs to be downloaded again.

Customer Replay

how would I do that ?

Top answer

To check the status of the update, please, do the following:

  • Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
  • If the update is still downloading, wait for it to complete before
    installing.
  • If the update has been downloaded, tap "Install Now" to begin the installation process.

Of course, I'll be here!
Let me know once the update is over and if working properly

Customer Replay

says its ios16.4.1 less than 1 min remaining right now

Customer Replay

Now it says preparing update

I see
It means that your iPhone is working on preparing the software for installation. This process can take a few minutes, depending on the size of the update and the speed of your iPhone.

Customer Replay

The bar indicates the preparing update process is about 2/3 done.
the blue bar is moving very very slow. Maybe at 3/4 now

banner 9

It's okay, it just depends on the speed of the phone

Customer Replay

now it just show the apple logo and a small bar below it thats maybe 10
% LIGHTED

In some cases, the update process may take some time to complete, especially if the update is large. Let's give it some time to see if it progresses further.

Customer Replay

It did progress all the way real fast and now shows only the apple logo with the same bar . Now it looks like my phone is back to normal

If your iPhone has progressed through the update process and is now displaying only the Apple logo with the progress bar, it's possible that the update is still completing, and your iPhone will restart once the progress bar reaches 100%.
Or has it restarted yet?

Customer Replay
